Feedback about PMW 2009

From belly dancers to satellite communications – wide variety of presentations – with similar principles of project management – core principles in several industries.

Last year quite processes and methodologies – this year more people focussed which is so important – too easy to get wrapped up in processes and forget about the people.

Companies and the importance not to get too wrapped up in themselves.

How helpful WAG is to Industry and Businesses in local areas = funding and support.

Backing for infrastructure for Newport in time for the Ryder Cup is disappointing.

No matter how big the project it can be achieved.

Remember why we are doing this – it’s the customer!

Project management systems are to facilitate the process, not to be obvious to the customer.

Customers are unique, listen to them. Don’t squeeze them into your process.

Teams are key - need to buy in to the process and be involved.

The ‘V’ shaped career path – do both/use all skills/benefit the company. (The EADS position).

Project Management Council – good stage to start at – setting direction.

Structures – levels of skill training identified from the start – skills audit.

Pushing internal changes through project management.

Taking action – not just talking about it.

The ‘Can Do’ attitude and enthusiasm of individuals – key to managing projects.

Passion – drives the project.

Understanding where you are now with a project – to enable projects to build from the baseline.

Knowing where individuals fit in the project.

Learning from precious projects and acting on it!

Varied sessions – but not drawn together as an overall theme.

Welsh focus.

Projects rather than project management – we want to understand the lessons learned.

How far ahead of the Public Sector is the Private Sector?

Hearts & Minds – getting project management embedded into corporate culture.

The value of senior sponsorship and individuals – making it happen.

Diverse range of projects – but outputs all positive – would be good to learn from a failed project.
