Joe Blackman
Joe is one of the leading young event producers in the country, having worked in the industry since he was 10 years old, he has built up a huge amount of experience in all manner of events since becoming Head of Events for Green Ant Events Ltd 4 years ago, dealing in corporate and private events, including festival consultancy.
Joe studied a BA (Hons) in Stage Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before leaving to pursue freelance work around the UK. Joe has worked on a variety of events ranging from large corporate dinners for 2000+ guests to outdoor events such as FA Cup Final, Party in the Park Events and Tsunami Relief Concert, along with celebrity parties and premiers.
Joe has worked for the Olympic Committee working in Doha, Qatar as a sports presentation manager for the 15th Asian Olympic Games, looking after 4 sports televised to a potential audience of 1.5 billion people.
Joe is qualified in health and safety management (by NEBOSH), has a Masters degree in Business Administration and currently lectures part time on a BA (Hons) Events Management course in UWIC. He is currently studying a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education focused on increasing the calibre of events students coming into industry.
He also writes articles for some of the leading industry publications on the latest trends in events, and has spearheaded Green Ant to be one of the leading responsible event planners, ensuring Green Ant Events is carbon neutral and ethically aware, and clients are given options to offset the emissions their event causes.
The session will cover a brief introduction to the world of event management and the variety of sectors that it encompasses from corporate events, private events through to outdoor festival production.
The session will discuss some of the specific implications for managing projects within this sector, and how a customer relationship management focused approach can be key to success.
The new british standard in environmental sustainability on events will also be discussed, and how the events macro-environment is becoming increasingly focused on this area.
