Paul’s presentation will look at the benefits of using a Project Manager’s framework for risk management and consider if project managers can learn from other areas with respect to Risk. The main area for debate is the financial markets and their treatment of risk. The concepts of portfolio management, systemic and unsystemic risk, and a method of choosing a new project that matches your portfolio will be covered within this presentation. This topic was written up and submitted as Paul’s PhD Thesis in early 2009. Paul’s enthusiasm for this topic has driven his PhD studies over the last six years, this enthusiasm will shine through in Paul’s presentation. In Paul’s own words, “Risk is one of the most misunderstood subjects in the world today. Everybody thinks they are an expert, however we can ALL learn from each other. Therefore, I want you to listen to this presentation as a thought provoking view of risk management, so that you can take out the elements that will benefit your company and your company’s projects.”
