All of our PRINCE2 courses (open and in-company) follow the PRINCE2 2009 syllabus.
Launched in June 2009, PRINCE2 2009 is a refreshed version of earlier methods rather than an update. It has kept the PRINCE2 core value of being a universally scalable method that can be applied to any project, in any organisation but has been improved by taking into account feedback from 170 organisations and considering the different challenges facing today’s projects.
One of the most noticeable changes between the 2009 version and earlier versions is that there will be now be two guides available for PRINCE2: Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 and Directing Successful Projects with PRINCE2. *
The key improvements to PRINCE2 2009 are:
- It is less prescriptive and more flexible
- It is less theoretical and more practical
- There are now a set of 7 clearly defined principles
- The need to tailor the method is explicit and guidance is provided
- That it aligns with other OGC products i.e. MSP® and MoR®
- The importance of the ‘softer’ aspects of project management are emphasised
- Highlighting that PRINCE2 is not bureaucratic – the method requires information and decisions, not documents and meetings

* Please note: We will send out Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 as the standard manual for our courses.
